The Golden Sitting Buddha is located in the Wat Pho Buddhist temple in Bangkok, Thailand. The temple is located on the Grand Palace grounds right in the middle of the city. At over two million square feet the Grand Palace grounds could arguably be called the birthplace of Siam (now Thailand) as a kingdom. While the Emerald Buddha housed on the grounds is considered the most important image of Buddha in Thailand, the Golden Buddha is likely the most valuable, being made of solid gold and weighing approximately 5 ½ tons.
