This is one of Greenland’s larger towns and the first thing that strikes you is “where are all the cars?” The answer is really very simple; the scene above actually takes in almost all of Qaqortoq, so you really don’t need a car in town and there are actually no roads in Greenland that connect the various towns. But everyone has a boat because they’re a necessity.

Greenlanders survive on wild meat and fish, with the sea providing the majority of food in their diet. Key traditional foods include various types of fish, seal, and whale meat, some game like reindeer and muskox often prepared by drying, smoking, or eating them raw.
