Decades ago the photographer (amateur and professional) invested much more in the taking of the photograph considering that the process cost a not insignificant amount. Today it costs nothing.

Decades ago the photographer (amateur and professional) invested much more in the taking of the photograph considering that the process cost a not insignificant amount. Film, processing and printing all had costs.
The digital age has changed us. Photographs are now electrons on a chip and can be erased and visualized at will. There is literally no investment in taking a hundred images. Just erase the ones you don’t like. Digital photographs can be easily manipulated digital filters, making colors more vibrant, blurring backgrounds and cutting and pasting content.
