Traveling from Anchorage to Denali we rode through mile after mile of virgin forest on a rode as straight as an arrow. Several hours into the trip we climbed a mild grade for several miles and as we reached the crest of a ridge the vista of The Alaska Range was spread out before us.
The Alaska Range is a 600-mile-long mountain range in southcentral Alaska, from Lake Clark at its southwest end to the White River in Canada’s Yukon Territory in the southeast. Denali (sorry, now Mount McKinley again) , the highest mountain in North America, is located in the center of the Alaska Range.
