
Okay, it’s just a dandelion – so what? Well the problem is, you weren’t there and I must admit I did a bad job of making it obvious why I took this photograph. What’s special about this clump of dandelions is that they are 18″+ tall.
If you’re going to Alaska keep a look out for the monster dandelions (oh, and the rhubarb too!).


Since the whole hillside was covered in similar clumps, it’s obvious that people in Alaska are used to seeing giant dandelions, but I was not. Where I grew up dandelions were pretty common and it wasn’t unusual to have lawns seriously adorned by the bright yellow weeds. But, the big ones were maybe seven or eight inches tall.
So, you see, these aren’t just any old dandelions…
