Iceland sits just south of the Arctic Circle in the North Atlantic.making it subject to harsh winters. By mid summer snow melt floods the rivers and lower landscape. In addition it is situated on the divergent boundary between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates, making it a hotspot for geological activity including numerous volcanic eruptions

Iceland – land of fire and ice. Gullfoss Water Fall (“Golden Falls”) featured in the above poster is one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls, found in the Hvítá river canyon in Southwest Iceland. It’s a popular destination being only a 2 hour drive from Reykjavik. The falls are also unique as they make a 90 degree turn halfway down the falls.

Travelling to Iceland is definitely something I want to do but trying to figure out which season to go in seems a bit tricky.

Late Fall early Winter is b est for Northern Lights but actually Norway and Alaska usually have better viewing. Spring through early Summer are great but you need to know that the weather can actually change almost every hour but it’s not like you’re going for the sunny beaches!
