For digital nomads, the dream of working remotely while traveling is more accessible than ever. With the rise of RV living, these adventurers now have the opportunity to work from anywhere while exploring new destinations. However, life on the road requires more than just a love for adventure—it takes careful planning and adaptation. From preparing the RV to ensuring a steady Wi-Fi connection, there are several key factors to consider in order to create a successful mobile lifestyle. Below are essential tips to help digital nomads thrive while traveling in an RV.

Choosing the Right RV for Long-Term Travel

Selecting the right RV is one of the most important decisions for digital nomads. Unlike short-term camping, long-term RV life requires comfort and functionality for both work and leisure. Consider an RV that offers ample space for your needs, such as a desk area, storage for gear, and a comfortable sleeping setup. Ensure it has good power capabilities—solar panels or a reliable generator can provide essential electricity when parked off-grid. A comfortable, well-equipped RV can make the difference between feeling cramped and enjoying your space while living on the road.

Mastering Mobile Wi-Fi Connectivity

One of the primary concerns for digital nomads is staying connected while traveling. While some RV parks offer Wi-Fi, it’s often unreliable. Investing in a mobile hotspot or upgrading to a robust cellular plan can provide a reliable internet connection in most locations. Signal boosters are another helpful tool to increase internet strength, especially in remote areas. If connectivity is ever an issue, it’s smart to download necessary work files and use offline tools to keep up productivity until a better signal is available.

Advancing Your Skills with an Online Degree

Earning a degree online is an excellent way for digital nomads to enhance their skill set while continuing their work on the road. Online degree programs provide the flexibility to manage both your professional responsibilities and academic pursuits, making it easier to study during evenings or weekends. By earning an online computer science degree, you’ll gain vital skills in logic, architecture and systems, data structures, AI, and computer theory—skills that are in high demand across a range of industries. With the benefits of a computer science bachelor’s degree, you can unlock new career opportunities and strengthen your ability to innovate and problem-solve in a digital-first world.

Planning Your Routes for Productivity and Exploration

One of the perks of RV life is the freedom to choose your route, but digital nomads must plan with both work and travel in mind. Research RV parks and campsites that offer quiet, comfortable spaces for work. Apps and websites designed for RVers can provide helpful insights into places with strong Wi-Fi and ample amenities. It’s important to factor in travel time, allowing for breaks and proper rest to avoid burnout. Balancing work and exploration is essential—schedule work hours and then enjoy the beauty of your surroundings during downtime.

Creating a Functional Mobile Office

Setting up a productive work environment inside an RV can be tricky, but it’s entirely possible with a little creativity. While some RVs come with built-in office spaces, others may require portable solutions, like a fold-down desk or a collapsible workstation. Consider ergonomic seating that supports long hours of work, and make sure to organize cables and tech equipment efficiently. A clutter-free workspace is crucial for maintaining focus while traveling. Having a designated office area will help separate work from relaxation and allow you to stay productive while on the road.

Maintaining Work-Life Balance on the Road

Managing work while living in an RV means finding a balance between productivity and adventure. With the allure of new places always within reach, it can be difficult to stay focused. A structured schedule can help maintain that balance—set clear work hours and reserve specific times for exploring. Use your breaks for short hikes or local activities to recharge and clear your mind. Embrace flexibility but stay disciplined, ensuring that you can enjoy the best of both worlds: work and travel.

For digital nomads, RV life offers the ultimate freedom to combine work with travel. By choosing the right RV, ensuring reliable connectivity, planning your route thoughtfully, creating an efficient workspace, and balancing work with exploration, it’s possible to thrive in this unique lifestyle. With the right preparation and mindset, living on the road can become an enriching and sustainable way to work, travel, and explore the world, all while maintaining professional responsibilities. With a little planning, digital nomads can truly make the open road their office.

Our International Travel Insurance Policies for Peace of Mind

We’ve provided information on travel insurance options in the past, but we have recently been asked about our actual policies. First, everyone who travels internationally MUST have the right international medical insurance. Not having it can literally wipe you out financially. Most of us will survive the costs of trip interruption but can you survive uncovered medical costs of hundreds of thousands of dollars?

The Intentional Travelers Insurance

Below is a listing of our current travel insurance with annual costs being less than US$1,550. One incident recently paid us back way more than those total annual premiums.

United Health Care Supplemental Coverage
We maintain this premium Medicare supplemental insurance for several reasons but primarily because it provides $50,000 in international emergency medical coverage. Medicare and most supplements actually provide no international coverage.

EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE PLUS® (EA+®)
This insurance provides emergency medical repatriation for the insured and travel companions up to $500,000 with a crises management team available 24/7. We’ve had this policy for years because of the low cost.

Allianz Annual Travel Policy
We actually had to use one of their policies for a trip interruption incident and while it required a bit of time to submit the required documentation, they paid quickly. It was really helpful to recover all those associated costs and loses.

This is our primary travel insurance and it actually costs less than 2 or 3 supplemental cruise insurance policies. The coverage is based on annual payouts but it provides peace of mind should something happen. Afterwords we may need to reevaluate insurance for the balance of the year.

Annual Limits
Trip Cancellation Coverage $10,000.00
Trip Interruption Coverage $10,000.00
Travel Delay Coverage $1,500.00
Baggage Loss Coverage $2,000.00
Baggage Delay Coverage $2,000.00
Rental Car Damage and Theft Coverage $45,000.00
Emergency Transportation Coverage $500,000.00
Emergency Medical/Dental Coverage $50,000.00

The Charm of Luna Park: A Sydney Icon

It shines like a sparkling jewel on the necklace that is Sydney Harbour and seen under Sydney Harbour Bridge it draws your attention. It’s Luna Park a historic amusement park situated in Milsons Point, Sydney, Australia. Opened in 1935, it has become a beloved destination for both locals and tourists, and is known for its unique charm and nostalgic atmosphere.

Early Development
The original Luna Park opened in 1906 at St Kilda, Melbourne, and inspired the creation of similar parks across Australia. The current Luna Park in Sydney officially opened in October 1935: featuring a distinctive entrance with a giant smiling face, designed by architect John W. McDonald.

Growth and Popularity
For over thirty years the park was a popular attraction, featuring rides such as a Ferris wheel, carousel, and a number of thrill rides. It was a hub of Sydney entertainment, hosting regular events and performances.

In the 1970s the park faced financial difficulties and safety concerns and a fire in a ride killing six children and one adult lead to its closure in June 1979. A refusal to install sprinklers, inadequate fire-fighting measures and low staffing caused the fire that completely destroy the amusement park’s Ghost Train Ride.

A Rebirth
Luna Park was revitalized and reopened in 1982, with new rides and attractions. The park’s iconic rides, like the Scenic Railway, were preserved and restored as the park continued to evolve, introducing modern attractions while maintaining its historical charm.

Recent Developments
In this Century Luna Park underwent further renovations and expansions, including the addition of new rides and dining options. It was also designated a Australian heritage site, recognizing its cultural significance with the park remaining a popular destination, that celebrates its history while offering more modern entertainment and rides.

Great Food Finds In Sydney, Australia

While there are literally thousands of places for food, coffee and treats in downtown Sydney we’ve found a few that deserve special mention.

Emperor’s Cream Puff

This jewel is a stand in Chinatown and tops our list of treats. Any time of day you’ll find a line in front of this shop and for very good reason. These deep fried balls of dough are filled with a custard and once you get over the lava hot center it’ll be hard to stop binging. Located in Sydney’s Chinatown at 31 Dixon St, Haymarket NSW 2000.

Gumption in QVB

While Sydney has a few Gumption coffee shops our favorite is in the Queen Victoria Building. What better location to enjoy a great coffee than in this remarkable shopping center?

Black Star Pastry for Watermelon Cake

We’ve never experienced Watermelon Cake and it’s probably a good thing that it’s in Sydney and not near our home. We like watermelon but Black Star has elevated it to something worthy of royalty. It’s served in a take-away box that actually matches the excellence of this confection. Shop 26, Ground Floor/500 George St, Sydney.

ASLAN Coffee Roasters The Rocks

We love exploring in Sydney’ The Rocks and Aslan is a coffee shop that takes its brew very seriously. You won’t find a better place for a coffee break in the famous Rocks neighborhood. 25 Nurses Walk, The Rocks, Sydney NSW 2000.

Sydney Fish Market

The Best Seafood In Sydney. Australia is known for great seafood but you can’t do any better than the Sydney Fish Market. It’s actually the center for seafood wholesale and retail companies in NSW and it naturally is home to a number of seafood restaurants. You won’t find any better seafood anywhere. A Special Shout Out to the 4 Pines Brewpub – Australians love their brews and this micro-brewery is located a half block from the Manley Ferry Terminal. This pub is very popular with the locals offering a wide range of beers on tap along with light pub fare. A great place to end a good day...
