A Blatant Commercial Plug

We’re Judi and Dennis and we are The Intentional Travelers. If we aren’t traveling we try and stay busy as much as possible. I devote time to this website (probably more than I should) and working with my photographs and graphics. Judi spends a fair amount of time planning our future trips, but as a side hustle she works on a few crafts with the ornaments featured here being her favorite.

She’s been doing them for years and has really perfected the process. The ornaments are made from blown out eggs covered with decorative papers, coated with acrylic and finished with a bead cap. Her ornaments are for sale in her Etsy shop HERE and should you want to purchase one be sure and use the links located on each photo (it eliminates some Etsy add-on charges). These hand made ornaments have a five star rating and make great gifts and become cherished family Christmas heirlooms.

They’re only $12.95 plus shipping and include a gift box.

Todays Image • A Thailand Rest Stop

We really love Thailand. The country is beautiful, the people are amazing and they have fantastic highways. On a car trip into Bangkok once we pulled into a rest stop that had to be a quarter mile long. The amazing part of it was the number of fast food restaurants, coffee shops and convenience stores. Along with local restaurants and Asian chains, America was well represented by Starbucks, KFC, Texas Chicken, Burger King, McDonalds, 7-11…

Today Thailand is an amazing blend of the modern with traditional cultures. From temples to markets to luxury beach resorts, there’s something for everyone.

Todays Images • Montevideo Protest Art

Walking around Montevideo, Uruguay there is a lot of street art as well as protest stencils like pictured above. On one block we found five different stencils all protesting the treatment of animals and all in the same size and style. The had a remarkable amount of detail in the stencil production. They also raised a number of social questions without much in the way of answers.

A protest wall translates into a series of confusing messages. THE INTERNET IS A DRUG • I DON’T HAVE A MUSTACHE • DO I RESIGN OR DO I REPORT? • WORK THE DAY • WHAT • DHERO(?) • NOVEMBER • I LIVE WITH WORK • STAIN FOR LIBERATION. Perhaps a bit of angst mixed with discontent?

And political art demanding FREE LULA!

Todays Images, Taormina, Sicily

Taormina is a resort area on the east coast of Sicily with a reputation as a shopping Mecca. Almost two dozen of the world’s most famous fashion houses have showrooms in this quant Sicilian hillside town. Sitting within sight of the active volcano Mt. Etna, Taormina has been a tourist destination since the 19th century. Its beaches on the Ionian sea, including that of Isola Bella, are reached by an aerial tramway built in 1992, and via highways from Messina in the north and Catania in the south.

Todays Image • A Warm Day In Vietnam?

On visiting Vietnam everywhere we saw women wearing outfits that suggested they were cold. Considering temps in the 80’s and 90’s it seemed extremely odd. Trying to figure out what was going on we asked a local man and were told that Vietnamese women considered having a light complexion made them more attractive and they were covering up to protect themselves from the Sun.

These photos here was taken BC (before covid) so the masks and gloves were mainly Sun protection…

Siagon Rush Hour

Since our first visit several years ago, bicycles have given way to motor bikes and cars have replaced motor bikes. The economy in Vietnam appears to be doing very well…

Todays Featured Image • The Grand Tetons

The Wyoming Grand Teton Range. Just outside Jackson Hole, the Teton mountains are one of the National Park Services most photographed mountains. The Teton Range is a stunning section of the Rocky Mountains that spans approximately 40 miles, showcasing breathtaking landscapes and towering peaks, including the Grand Teton at 13,770 feet. They lie south of Yellowstone National Park, with its ragged peaks making it one of the most iconic mountain ranges in the United States.
