A Bit Of Kota Kinabalu Culture

While strolling around Kota Kinabalu we discovered a festival in a park with these young ladies playing the Gabang Kayu.

It is a traditional xylophone-style instrument used in Kota Kinabalu and throughout Sabah, Malaysia, particularly by the Bajau, Suluk, Bisaya, and Orang Sungai communities. It features bamboo or wooden bars played with mallets, often accompanied by gongs and singing, featuring prominently in festival music and the Daling Daling dance of Malaysia.
